Something To Taste is my play on the subtle science and exact art of living well. Food started as my passion, and quickly became a way of life. The calling to be a chef has been equally arduous and rewarding, but the journey of creating my own niche in a burgeoning food scene lead me on a path of self discovery and food sovereignty. I look forward to every opportunity to share food that has been locally sourced and thoughtfully prepared.
Born and raised in a small beach town in Northern California has allowed me the wonderful opportunity to connect with my natural surroundings. Somewhere along the way, I started Kinderwood Farms and learned to respect the amount of work that goes into putting food on the table and the true cost. Between my own farming connections, and the fact that there is a farmer’s market nearly everyday in this beach town surrounded by agriculture, I can’t help but utilize and enjoy the local farmers’ bountiful harvests.
My blog is my effort to give people the courage to step outside the world of recipes. Taste is subjective. It’s all about what you like, not what somebody else likes. Cooking with your senses! Balancing salt, sweet, sour, bitter, and umami(savory) is my favorite part of cooking. I hope that I will help inspire you to explore cooking to your own taste. It’s important to note that my food cravings have always leaned toward the salty, rather than the sweet side of things.
I would love to hear about your kitchen inspirations and how my recipes or recipes that I have adapted from other passionate foodies have fit to your tastes.
